Tern It Up.

At North Curl Curl Beach we watched as juvenile Terns practised fishing. We have to admit that we’re not 100% certain of identification here. We’re fairly sure that these are Fairy Terns (Sternula nereis), but they could be Little Terns (Sternula albifrons). Adult Little Terns have a black stripe running from the bill through the eye, and a black tip to their bill: but these are absent in juveniles. If you can be definite, please leave us a comment.
