When we visit Amanda’s parents, we always keep an eye out for the Satin Bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus). A male has a long-standing bower built in their backyard, bedecked with blue clothes pegs and bottle caps. On this occasion, one of his beautiful ladies paid a visit. She sat in a tree preening:
It wasn’t long before she decided deeper cleansing was needed, and she dropped down in stages to land on the backyard birdbath. In the dappled light, her handsome plumage was on display, and her purple eyes almost glowed:
In a feathery frenzy, she took the plunge:
Clean and refreshed….
